Access Statement

Wern Newydd Tourer Park                             Dated 1st October 2007

Wern Newydd Tourer Park is sited on a level field which nestles amongst the hills overlooking Cardigan Bay and enjoys spectacular views towards Snowdonia. The Park is private and secluded and offers a peaceful stay.

  1. The Park is of 3 acres and all the touring pitches are well spaced around the outer perimeter which follows the contour of the surrounding hills. The pitches are all grass and level.
  2. Parking on the grass beside your caravan or tent is allowed.
  3. There are two public footpaths which lead off from the Caravan Park. This area is used for dog walking, all dogs should be kept on a lead.
  4. Access to the first path is through a metal kissing gate, up some stone steps 1 in 10 slope, to the top of a hilly bank which then follows an uneven grassy path to the unclassified road. From the path are some beautiful scenic views.
  5. Access to the second public footpath leads on to a winding uneven grassy path which meanders through the bracken along a secluded valley, through a metal kissing gate along another slightly uneven path through two gates and into the village of Llanbedrog, in less than five minutes walking time.
  6. From this point in the village it is possible to continue along a metalled pavement down a hill, slope 1 in 10, across the main A499 - Pwllheli to Abersoch road down a further hill, slope 1 in 10, with no pavement only metalled road, to the National Trust beach in Llanbedrog. This being a 10 minutes walk from the Caravan Park.
  7. The beach is a beautiful sandy sheltered with swimming sailing and watersports. On the beach is a small Bistro which caters for the day time needs and a pleasant evening restaurant.
  8. In the village of LLanbedrog are several good restaurants, country inns, tea rooms together with a Post office, chemist, garage and a Londis.
  9. The Park is surrounded on three sides by a plantation of deciduous and evergreen trees. Off the Park is a small hill on to which access is allowed. The path up is grass and rather uneven underfoot 1 in 10 slope.
  10. On the Park are two fire extinguishers serviced with two lights.
  11. The Park is approached by a single track tarmac road with two  speed ramps to slow traffic down. Slope 1 in 20.
  12. The toilet and shower block is on the left as you enter the Park. The approach is covered in gravel with a single step up into the facilities, which has lighting at night on a sensor. The entrance door is opened manually.
  13. Assistance on arrival is always offered.
  14. Access on to the Caravan Park is mainly grass.
  15. The toilet facilities are partially accessible to a partially disabled person.
  16. The facilities include water point, toilets, showers, hand wash basins, dish washing, laundry area, freezer, chemical disposal, refuse skips and fire point. These facilities are no further than 30 meters away from any pitch. However, these facilities are accessible by car.
  17. The Park is about 0.5 miles from the village which is serviced by a local bus service. The distance to the nearest town is 5 miles.
  18. Telephone numbers for local taxi service, Doctor, Vet and 24 hour emergency are displayed in the shower block.
  19. Mobile phone network availability in this area is good.
